Marriage is definitely worth the sacrifice!

1 Peter 1: 1 Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.

3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
------------
7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

Competitive is an understatement when it comes to my drive and determination. There are times when competition is good and there are times when it is bad. Marriage is definitely not a good place for competition.

In my struggle to either be heard, respected, wanted or just plain old selfish, I have argued, blamed and gotten angry at the gift GOD gave me namely my wife.

  • GOD’s words of submission are hard to swallow especially when the person is hard to submit to.
  • GOD’s words of inner beauty can be difficult especially when the world says lust is the right way to live.
  • GOD’s words of respect can be tough when society says be selfish and have it “my way.”

Trust me, I’m no authority on marriage but I do realize that it takes great sacrifice to have a successful one. That’s why I believe GOD loves marriage so much.

  • If I can sacrifice in marriage then I can submit to GOD’s ways.
  • If I can sacrifice in marriage then I can understand my sinful relationship with GOD.
  • If I can sacrifice in marriage then I can get a small glimpse of the sacrifice JESUS made for me.

JESUS says HE is the groom and HIS humans are is bride. The more I can learn HIS grace, humility and generosity the better my marriage will be.

  • Are you stuck on getting things “your way?”
  • Can you assess yourself to see if you are the slightest bit selfish?
  • Are you busy talking or are you ready to listen and ask questions?
  • Will you add grace, mercy and humility to your relationships today?
