Preparing to See Pharaoh
Exodus 7: So the Lord said to Moses: “See, I have
made you as God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall
be your prophet. 2 You shall speak all
that I command you. And Aaron your brother shall tell Pharaoh to send the
children of Israel out of his land. 3 And I
will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in
the land of Egypt. 4 But Pharaoh will not heed
you, so that I may lay My hand on Egypt and bring My armies and My
people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great
judgments. 5 And the Egyptians shall know that
I am the Lord, when I stretch out My hand on Egypt
and bring out the children of Israel from among them.”
6 Then Moses and Aaron did so; just
as the Lord commanded them, so they did. 7 And
Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years
old when they spoke to Pharaoh.
============
After telling GOD that he could not speak well, Moses and
Aaron waited on HIS response. GOD tole Moses that HE was placing him over
Aaron. Moses GOD then said what HE would do and how Pharaoh would react.
My Observations:
- GOD
would handle the words to say to Pharaoh by giving them to Moses, who
would give them to Aaron.
- GOD
uses armies for the first time in reference to HIS people.
- GOD
wanted Pharaoh to know that HE is the LORD.
There are two ways to know that GOD is GOD. The first way is
the GOD of wrath that Pharaoh was about to experience. The second way is the GOD
who cares and loves us deeply. GOD was taking down more than a particular
nation. HE was taking down an attitude. HE wanted Moses and Aaron to be
confident that HE was in control.
GOD would help Pharaoh believe that HE was in charge. This
would “solidify” his thinking and “solidify” his fate. In his heart, he would
believe he is a god and that he was right for doing so. GOD would help him
believe this by not entering his heart. GOD was about to do ten plagues and
Pharaoh would not relent. Moses was eighty when he spoke in front of Pharaoh.
Challenge
- Why
did GOD remind Moses about HIS words of comfort?
- Are
you overwhelmed with the plan GOD has on your life?
- If
you are overwhelmed, can you think of what you are holding onto that needs
to be in GOD’s hands?
